Extreme Makeover- Home or Heart Edition

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition invaded our area at the end of September. It was all over the radio, tv, and newspaper. We couldn't go anywhere without it being the topic of conversation. Everyone knew someone who knew someone that had worked or saw one of the design team in person. One of my friends got to see Rib Hillis and Michael Maloney up close and personal. Another friend got to meet most of the design team and go to do the "Braveheart March" down the road. One of my friend's hubby's got to meet Ty Pennington and worked right next to him during the demo. I even saw Paige one night in Walgreens. All week people went down to the worksite. I had the chance to go on the next to last day. The community support was unbelievable.

This family's life will be radically changed. Because of Extreme Home Makeover and the community their lives will never be the same. Their encounter with this project will be life altering.

My life on the other hand won't be altered or changed at all for having visited the site. It was a fun thing to do with my kids on their day off. But seeing Paige or Michael won't make a difference to who I am or what I do for the rest of my life.

As I stood at the site I couldn't help but wonder if this is what it was like for Jesus. Crowds followed him- thousands at a time. Maybe some took off work to get a glimpse of him. Perhaps someone knew someone that knew someone who had been healed by Him. The towns were probably abuzz because of him. Many lives were radically changed by their encounter with Him. But I am sure there were some whose lives weren't altered at all. When He left they went on about their business with no change at all.

We have a choice. Like this family our lives can be completely altered and changed...by Jesus. Or like me, we can just be bystanders who encounter something amazing but it doesn't change our lives at all. What is your choice? Will you be changed...I mean radically changed by Jesus or will you just be a bystander? I know for me- I want to be radically changed by Him!
