3 Presents

We tried something new this year...actually we have tried to do it for the last few years but ended up wimping out, so this year decided to give it another go. We gave our kids only 3 gifts- something to wear, something to read and something to play with. We warned them ahead of time so that there would be no surprises when it came time to open presents. At first they were not real thrilled with the idea but by Christmas Eve had come around to it. It was a radical concept to them.

It made for a much different evening than we had previously experienced. It was more relaxed and the kids were more grateful. The "gimme's" didn't rear their ugly little heads. The kids were genuinely excited for each other. They weren't as greedy.

At the end of the evening Jeff and I looked at each other and smiled...we actually enjoyed our night will do it again!
